If a team is well-coordinated, you can observe the positive impact on the work process and project. The benefits include higher productivity, lower turnover, higher morale and the ability to swiftly adapt to changing circumstances and obstacles. To create a synergy and cooperation the team members must all have an extremely high level of emotional intelligence. This means there will be little conflict and support, as well as lots of collaboration. This kind of environment is not difficult to attain, but when it is there it’s worth trying to achieve.

In the context of teamwork the term synergy is a buzzword which can be disregarded as a hollow corporate cliche, but it does have its merits. Synergy is the combining of elements that result in a result that is superior to what could be achieved by each component alone.

Teams that have a strong synergy are able to complete their tasks efficiently and effectively, without unnecessary redundancy or waste. They are able to collaborate on ideas and tackle issues in a team, with each member’s unique abilities assisting the other for creative solutions. They also have a common vision and a goal that brings everyone together to achieve an end goal, thereby increasing the unity and commitment.

Team leaders play an important part in establishing the conditions for synergy because they are able to establish the communication protocols for their teams. Making clear how, when and with whom team members communicate is important. It’s also important to establish clear guidelines for what can be discussed in person rather than via chat or email, depending on factors like urgency and topic.
